Dentistry for Kids Spokane, WA
We know not everyone likes kids. All you have to do is go out into the world - to a discount center or grocery store - and watch a small child having a meltdown. All of the people who like kids or who have had kids smile sympathetically at the parents who are struggling with the child. People who don’t like kids tend to scowl - and blame the parents. No matter how much you love children, they are an acquired taste. It is the same in our business. Some of us love taking care of the dental needs of older adults. Other people in our profession like to work to restructure jaws or rebuild teeth and gum tissue after a traumatic accident or injury.
If we had to pick a profession, we’d have to pick dental services for children. We think that people who help children are some of the best people on the planet, because children represent our future. Because we love children, we want our practice to be a safe, secure place for them, so they see us as an ally in the war on dental issues. Let Dynamic Dental Care take a few minutes to discuss why dental care is so important for kids’ teeth.
The Importance of Children’s Dentistry
There are many adults who don’t believe that children’s dentistry is important, but we’re here to tell you differently. While we understand that many people don’t think a child’s baby teeth are important, they are. In fact, if children don’t take care of their teeth when they are young, they may have more severe problems when they are older. In fact, if children have too much tooth decay, their adult teeth may not come in at all. We might also have to pull their baby teeth if a child’s dental health continues to deteriorate.
Clearly, the better your child cares for their teeth, the better their dental health will be going into adulthood. So, if you and your child come into our offices every six months for a checkup, and you make sure they brush and floss twice a day, you are setting them up for dental health in their adult lives. So, what happens when you bring your child to see the dentist? Here are some facts.
What Happens In a Child’s Dental Visit?
There are lots of things about a child’s checkup that are just like an adult’s dental visit, but we do try and make children’s exam more enjoyable. We want your child to be comfortable with us and not fear going to the dentist. First, we will spend some time getting to know your child. We will then spend some time checking their teeth, gums and mouth structures.
We will clean your child’s teeth carefully, and talk to them about how to brush their teeth. We do recommend dental cleanings every six months, if possible. We might even play a game, because let’s face it, games are fun. If we can help your children not to be afraid of the dentist, we have taken a big first step with you for their dental care. We might also talk to you about advice to help your children practice good oral hygiene. Of course, if there is a problem with your child’s teeth, we’ll address it quickly.
